  • FIDE World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad 2025

    The FIDE World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad 2025 recently finished. The format was a bit unusual with the time control being 45 minutes plus 10 seconds increment per move and teams were required to have at least one male player and at least one female player. Canada was represented by IM Johnathan Han, IM Aaron Reeve Mendes, FM Ryan Zhong and WFM Laksshana Deepak and was ranked 15th going into the tournament. Canada finished in 11th place (T9) with a 6 / 9 record. Canada lost to strong teams from China and Uzbekistan and drew against India and the host Columbian team.
