Very interesting post, Hans!!
Hans, do you realize you are approaching 15,000 posts on chesstalk.com!? The count is now at 14,997!! This may be an all-time high!
One more thing: last I checked, your message inbox on chesstalk has stopped accepting incoming messages, as it is full, and my messages remain undelivered to you.
And, I do plan to post again soon on the thread with the Nimzo line 4.Nh3. I have been sorting and organizing new material!
Cheers,

I have a compulsion and an addiction to posting on chesstalk. Ive tried to seek counselling but the counselors can't even begin to understand chessplayers and so I feel their help is a lost cause. What is left but to keep on going? So I'll just keep on posting.

Hans, semi-seriously, you could aim for a counsellor who is a chess person!! They do exist, and I had one for several years. Very helpful to me. He was also a golfer; even better! Quite skilled at both sports!! There are at least twelve thousand worse compulsions than posting on chesstalk.com. Think of all the good you are doing for Canadian chess, posting links to chess media articles most of us never knew about!!
Now, on that front, I have one for you and the rest of chesstalk.com:
From The New York Times of Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, Opinion Page, page A22, article by Thomas L. Friedman, who in my opinion is one of the most erudite and compelling writers on the planet today:
'Our Allies Are Asking, Why Does Putin Still Own Trump?'
From the fourth column of the piece:
"You know how we often say that the Chinese are much more sophisticated players of the game of nations -- while we play checkers, the Chinese play chess, thinking many moves ahead. Well, it's sort of like that with Trump. Only Trump is not playing checkers or chess. He is playing 'Monopoly'".
Wonderful, insightful analysis!!! And very funny, if it wasn't so sad.

When I visited the library yesterday one of the librarians waved me over and presented me with a copy of Danny Rensch's book. I misunderstood, reached for my card to sign it out, and was thrilled. No, lo and behold! it was a special gift for me! The latest batch of advance reader's copies came in and a sharp eye picked it out and said: "I betcha Hans would like this"! Thanks and it made my week! Sure I have access on Kindle but there's nothing like the feel of a good book in my hands, and its a keepsake, and best of all its free with a nice story attached as to how I got it. Now I just have to take it on my next trip to St. Louis and get Danny Rensch to personalise sign it. Icing on the cake.
