With a win by Hikaru and a draw by Mike, Hikaru finally pulled into sole-posession of 1st place after round 5 and didn't look back. IM Mark Plotkin won the final round Toronto IM battle and took clear second

Special Winner Takes All Prize - GM Hikaru Nakamura - $500

I will be waiting about 24 hours before doing any of these payouts, in case anyone notices an error on my part.

We will be announcing the winners of the two $100 Alex Relyea Memorial Prizes in the next day or two (for Most Improved Player).

Final results for the Maritime Open, Rapid, and Blitz are all available at

According to my calculations the following players will receive their initial FIDE rating on the November FIDE Rating List: Anthony Banks (PE), Rutvik Reddy Allampati (NB), Kaven Sharma (NS), Goldy Vu (PE).

We took some pictures at the end of the festival and will post those later today.on the MCF FB page.

Co-Arbiter, Daniel has already sent the results of the Open and the Rapid to the CFC to be rated. As I'm in the middle of a move (there's a dumpster in the driveway, I have to finish filling today), there's a chance the Amateur and Junior won't be sent in to be rated for this week's update on Thursday.

A final good news story came in this morning, as Hikaru wants to donate his winnings to a PEI charity. We'll get back to you later with who we've chosen as the recipient.
