    Another prominent chess player / politician was Andrew Bonar Law (1858-1923), who was briefly Conservative Prime Minister of the UK in the 1920s, after having held several previous high government posts. He was the only Canadian-born British PM; born in New Brunswick, and moved to Scotland in his youth, where he became successful in business despite not having advanced education or family wealth. A few of his games survive today.
