  • Quentin Post: NBA player, chess champion!!

Quentin Post is an NBA player with the Golden State Warriors, and a chess champion!!

From the 2025-26 NBA Preview issue of Athlon Sports, page 133: In Las Vegas, summer 2025, "Post participated in the Chesstival Blitz pro-am chess tournament, defeating the San Antonio Spurs' Harrison Ingram in the finals."

Post is, interestingly, a post player with the Warriors!! He plays center, that is. He is 7 feet tall, 238 pounds, and is currently in his second NBA season, having played his college basketball at Boston College. That's the same NCAA school where Nate Doornekamp, of Kingston, Ontario, with about the same physique as Post, played the same position more than 15 years ago. Nate, who played some with Canada Basketball's national team, is also a very good golfer, the tallest golfer I have ever seen! Nate is also a recreational chess player.

Post has moved into the starting lineup for Golden State for many games this season.

    Blitz US rating: 1102/15

It looks like the Chesstival Blitz tournament was not USCF rated.
