Great to see some Canadians playing at Reykjavik. Always a strong tournament, and Iceland is reasonably close and flights affordable to us Canadians.

Rd 1 is in the books. The top 9 seeds all won, including the great Chucky. The Canadian contingent got their feet wet. Noteworthy: Brian Jiang won against IM Laura Unuk. A difference of more than 400 Fide points. Congratulations Brian!

After 3 Elliot Mccallum leads the Canadians with 2.5. What a start! Elliot is new to me but apparently a young up and comer - he's listed as under 16. He's now come to my attention.

Apparently Elliot is only nine yrs old! This is a great experience for him playing in Reykjavik!

I missed Karson Lu who has 3 wins out of 4 and so also had 3 points after round 4. Thats a great result.

And I think Karson is only 8 yrs old! We have some great youth playing in Reykjavik!

Karson Lu lost to Bohdana but he made her work for it. 88 moves and she had to win bishop and rook vs bishop. Great experience.

Rd 6 Karson Lu continues to impress as he beats a 2100 Icelander and leads the Canadian contingent with 4 out of 6!

One slightly down note.Hairan Liang had to play Henry Politt in rd 6 - two Canadians facing each other. It happened to me a few times - travelling all that way to face a fellow Canadian. Its too bad.
