After 5 its Sindarov with 4.5!! and Caruana with 3.5. The rest of the field follows but not close.

Rd 5 Well the kingside breakthrough happened in the Caruana game in the most startling fashion. The pawns got locked but not completely locked and so the game ended with a pawn checkmate! h6 checkmate!

Rd 5 Massive exchanges in Nakamura vs Sindarov leaves Nakamura 3 pawns down in a bishop of opposite color endgame. DIsappointing.

    Nakamura loses.

Rd 5 Giri started out with active piece play but the pressure drifted away and it looks like a draw is coming soon.

Giri and Wei Yi have avoided a draw and are playing on but I dont know why. Its a bone dry rook and pawn endgame.

Rd 5 Pragga is playing complete positional chess and has his opponent Esipenko boxed in.

Pragga decided to repeat moves and it was a draw.

Rd 5 Caruana aims for an early f5 and has followed it with a kingside pawn storm. It will be interesting to see his breakthrough.

Rd 5 Nakamura vs Sindarov Nakamura has an attack shaping. Can he pull it off?

Nakamura's play seems confused when countered by the direct moves of Sindarov. No sign of an attack. His play certainly has not improved on theory.

Nakamura is relying on the two bishops and piece control to offset his deficit of pawns.

Nakamura is down to 16 minutes on the clock and the computer give his opponent Sindarov at +2 edge, but if anyone can handle it, he can.
