Rd 3 highlight pairings Pragga vs Keymer and MVL vs Sindarov, although all the games should be interesting fights.

Rd 3 Fascinated by Pragga - Keymer opening, specifically 11...Nd7 sacrificing a pawn for active pieces and the c4 pawn target.
Fascinating opening ideas transposed into a difficult (to win) endgame with Pragga a pawn up.
A hard fought draw.Last edited by Hans Jung; Saturday, 16th May, 2026, 02:19 PM.

Rd 3 Giri - Firoujza interesting play in the King's Indian. On move 14 I would have played Bxh6 as White but Giri decided to hold on to the center and now has a +2 advantage after Firoujza decided to sacrifice the exchange. Thats why I'm me and Giri is Giri. Will Firoujza's two bishops prove enough compensation for the exchange? Stay tuned.
Thanks to Giri and Frioujza for playing out a fascinating endgame. Giri wins.Last edited by Hans Jung; Saturday, 16th May, 2026, 02:30 PM.

Rd 3 Deac's play in the early middlegame continues to impress. However his shortage of time is killing his positions. Kudos to his opponents who are holding off on opening the position and tactical fireworks until just before time control. Last game Keymer and this game Van Foreest attacking the king's position just before time control.
Van Foreest - a successful king hunt ending with the spectacular 57...Ba2+!!Last edited by Hans Jung; Saturday, 16th May, 2026, 02:24 PM.

https://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=3153783 Rd 3 Giri vs Firoujza
Apparently on move 65 Firoujza missed Bxf2 and all of a sudden Black is better (although probably a draw with best play) The shocking thing is the computer at time for play gave Giri's just previous move of 65.Rg3 and exclam.Last edited by Hans Jung; Saturday, 16th May, 2026, 04:45 PM.
