First of all, as your new OCA Youth Coordinator, I look forward to working with you to build the next generation of Ontario chess players and to work with my provincial counterparts.
The Ontario Chess Association is putting out a call for bids for the 2027 Ontario Junior Chess Championship.
Bids from all regions of Ontario are welcome.

August 1: Organizers are requested to submit a declaration of their intention to bid by email to me. Please send me a private message if you require my email. Optional: organizers may choose to submit a draft bid for review and comments at this time if desired.
September 15: Due date for bids
September 16-18: review and comment by OCA governors
September 19-21: voting period
September 22: notifications / announcement of winner
Bid Requirements
Organizers are requested to keep their bids concise and under 10 pages.
Bids should contain the following information at the minimum:

- Organizer + contact information
- Proposed dates + venue (including capacity information by square footage AND anticipated player capacity)
- Budget / financial plan (including entry fees for players and any application prize fund / bursary for Canadian Juniors)
- Tournament format and schedule (number of rounds, time control, proposed sections, CFC/FIDE rating)
- Tiebreaks or playoffs (please specify criteria)
- Accommodation information + distance to venue
- Skittles + parents waiting area
- Information regarding parking, public transportation options, and nearby food/drinks
- Side events
- Chief Arbiter
- Sponsors
- Broadcast for live games (DGT, Lichess, Chess.com, etc.)
- Support letters from municipal / regional authorities (note: support letters from provincial authorities are not permitted)
