Just mere observations from someone who wasnt there but I can tell it was very competitive. I know the top three are excellent speed players. Congratulations to Zach Dukic, only a half point out. Also congratulations to Olena Kucherenko (outstanding!) and William Klarner who didnt show his age, I'm only commenting on those I know.

    Great turnout!

The shuttle driver will wait outside of the vehicle with a sign that says “Fallsview International Chess Qualifier” and signage will be posted on the shuttle windows.

There is a Starbucks near the playing hall for sure, and a couple of grocery stores not too far (one of them closes at 7pm, right when the tournament starts).

Do you know if there's any sort of vending machine or snack counter near the playing hall or should I make sure to load up my pockets with granola bars before heading out?

Only 8 seats remain on the complimentary shuttle from Toronto. If you plan to use it, please reserve your seat as soon as possible.

We reached our initial planned capacity of 30 players today. Following a meeting with the Niagara Falls Chess Club and Fallsview Group, we have agreed to expand the field to 50 players to accommodate the strong interest in the event.

Thank you to everyone who has registered. We look forward to welcoming you on August 13.

To answer a few more question we received: the event is open to players of all ratings. GMs may play in Qualifier #1, but if a GM wins, the free Master Section entry will be awarded to the highest-finishing non-GM.
