  • FM Hansen, IM Esserman going for norms at the 4th Edmonton International

With two more rounds to go, the only two with norm chances are Calgarian FM Eric Hansen and Bostonian IM Marc Esserman. Eric currently has 4/7 and he needs to score one more point, to make it for his third and final IM norm. He is playing GM Mikhalevski with white in round 8 and he will be playing IM Antal with black in the last round.

IM Esserman has it even tougher. He currently sits at 5/7 and to make it to a GM norm he will have to win his last two games. He has white against FM Haessel with white which will follow by a game against GM Mikhalevski with black in the final round.

The tournament is currently lead by GMs Mikhalevski and Friedel with 5.5 points each. IM Esserman is third with 5. You can see the full results, pairings, live games and pictures at the official site: www.edmontonchessclub.org/festival
