      Re: KW Winter Open

It is a little bit last minute, but I am going in to talk to them about rates for a few of our tournaments.
I would suggest that you mention the tournament when you register and they should give them a bit better deal.
If I am able to make a special agreement with them (meeting with them on Tues. next) I will most certainly announce it here.

      Thanks for asking,
      Patrick

Re: KW Winter Open - Registration still growing .. and ..

We are up to 33 pre-registered players ... see the latest list on our site:
          http://www.kwchess.com/kwwinter10/kwwo10standings.html

          ALSO:
We have negotiated a special rate at the closest hotel - The Walper Terrace Hotel.
Just 2 blocks away from the playing site, this hotel has character "plus".
They boast having all the celebrities staying there. (Most recently was Rita McNeil I understand) ... a few Prime Ministers, many well known people from years back and current.

Our rate: $89 per room :D
To get this rate, call the sales manager directly: Matt Delorey at: 519-745-4321 x186 and tell him that you are coming in for the KW Winter Open Chess Tournament. ("Tell him I sent you")

For info on this hotel go to : www.walper.com

                    Re: KW Winter Open

Congratulations to Patrick McDonald and company for another successful tournament. Watching from my sick bed, I couldn't help noticing Samsonkin's perfect score. Winning as the favorite can be difficult enough.

Special thanks also to Michael von Keitz for cutting short his time off from studies in order to snag a bunch of rating points in Kitchener - just before our club championship. Mike you shouldn't have!
