  • Corus Round 10

The action at Corus today was hot and heavy, to the point where the server crashed and is still not up at this moment.
Shirov reached what I believe to have been a winning position against the World Champion, Anand, but went astray and eventually lost. Thus Anand's first decisive game takes down the front runner.
Meanwhile, Kramnik reached an early draw against Ivanchuk to move to 7 points and Carlsen knocked off Karjakin to stand level with Shirov half a point back, at 6.5,
This is proving to be a humdinger of a slugfest among the chess elite.
Tomorrow may be another critical day as Kramnik has black against Shirov while Carlsen plays Dominguez.

At "The Week in Chess site, the headline says "Kramnik leads after Anand loses", but the story under the headline says Anand won!

Anand won. On move 39 he made what should have been a fatal blunder but Shirov returned the favour and blundered back to give Anand the win. Not pretty but fighting chess.
