  • From Corus C

A monumental oversight by Wesley So allowed mate in two. Duffers will be encouraged when they see a GM missing impending mate. Anyone know how to set a diagram from the Wesley So - Giri game after Black's 35.... Qg3. ?

    CORRECTION: That's from Corus B

      Thanks Egid,
Wite played 36 Ne2 seeing that on ...Qf2ch the King can hide on h2.
Giri immediately hit him with 37 Rf1ch! and the game was over!

Actually we've seen worse! In section C, American wunderkind Ray Robson missed mate in one against Li Chao in round 9. 33...Qf5?? 34.Qh8#
