With the $20 double-early discount wrapping up 2 weekends ago, we now have almost 60 players already registered! If you are interested in joining, you can still take advantage of the $10 early discount for the month of February. Registering early is especially valuable for GMs and IMs (1 and 2 so far), as they benefit from free entry before March, but then regular full entry fees would apply just like for everyone else. Email heads-up are always welcome.
Paying by mail is best for me, especially as my attendance at the RA chess club will be spotty for the month of February. I will try to post my schedule here.
CFC memberships: The following players will need to renew their expiring CFC memberships before the tournament begins. Ideally for me, please do so directly with the CFC office, and ask them to CC me on the email receipt that they would normally send you afterwards: Josh Renaud & Kevin Wan (Junior).
In the better-late-than-never category, the winners plaques for the EOCA 2008-2009 Grand Prix have been ordered, and should be received well in time to be presented at this tournament. If you were one of the section winners, but cannot make it that weekend, no problem, we can make other arrangements.
Yours in chess,
Aris Marghetis
- Organizer/TD, FIDE Arbiter
- EOCA President, CFC Governor
Please note that we are looking for up to 4 floater players :
- floater players help the TD guarantee no “forced byes”
- floater players are paired and rated like all the players
- floater players play for free, but under some conditions :
----- they play in 0 to 5 rounds, depending on byes by all the players
----- they can be phoned/texted in the hour before every single round
----- they have a current CFC membership by the time of first pairings
if you are interested in being a floater player for this event, please apply by email
