RA Spring Open: $10 discount ending
Hi again, the $10 early discount for paying before March is now ending. If you wish to take advantage of it, I recommend that you mail it by tomorrow, which would should ensure a February postmark on the letter. I am working both tonight and next Thursday night, so even local new players should pay via mail.
Registering early is especially valuable for GMs and IMs (respectively, 1 and 2 already registered), as they benefit from free entry before March, but then regular full entry fees would apply just like for everyone else. Overall, we now have over 60 players already registered with just over a week to the event.
Regardless of whether you are mailing in your payment, or whether you intend to pay at the last moment onsite, any email heads-up is very welcome! ;)
CFC memberships: The following players will need to renew their expiring CFC memberships before the tournament begins. Ideally for me, please do so directly with the CFC office, and ask them to CC me on the email receipt that they would normally send you afterwards: only Kevin Wan (Junior) remaining.

- floater players help the TD guarantee no “forced byes”
- floater players are paired and rated like all the players
- floater players play for free, but under some conditions :

----- they can be phoned/texted in the hour before every single round
----- they have a current CFC membership by the time of first pairings

The Eastern Ontario Chess Association (EOCA) organizes the EOCA Grand Prix, a series of weekend tournaments over the 2009-2010 chess season.
The next EOCA event in Ottawa will be the RA Spring Open, on March 5th-7th. It will consist of 5 rounds, with flexible bye and discount options.
We are planning for 4 sections (rated CFC, Top Section also rated FIDE), and prizes ($2800 last event) for every 200 rating points from U2400 to U1600.
