  • CFC Memberships continue to grow

Current CFC memberships as of August 1, 2008 stood at 1,855.

This is a increase of 20 in the last month.

So sorry, I thought I would just sneak this bit of good news in between all the complaining....:):):):D:o;)

How much is the current CFC membership? (especially for Ontario, but would appreciate a pointer to the amounts).

The CFC website still talks about the quarterly magazine and still lists the price for Ontario as $43.

PS: I don't mean to rain on the good news... I'd just like to know what to quote when people email me asking about membership and the magazine etc.

      Bob -

Do those numbers include the Canadian/Quebec Open memberships? What was the breakdown of memberships sold (by type) at the Open?

An increase of 20 ? For the month that includes the year's most important open in Canada ? If this is the good news then I don't want to hear about the bad ones...

In fairness, it IS also the month that all the memberships sold at last year's most important event in Canada expired...

You guys are so negative !!!

That doesn't include any new memberships sold at Canadian Open. I don't have the report yet. :):):):D

                  Great news, Bob.
I'm going to send in another five memberships right now that were collected this week (three of them are new memberships).

So, are the membership prices on the CFC website correct?

                    ie: $43 for Ontario
                    $48 for B.C.

                    etc

As far as I know, the membership prices on the website are correct.

                        Hi Kerry,

Membership prices on website are correct.

                        Adult memberships

                        Ontario 43 ( CFC = 36, Ont = 7)
                        BC 48 (CFC = 36, BC = 12)
                        etc

Despite inflation, there have been no increases in several years.

The proposed changes discussed at AGM are effective Jan 1/09, but will likely see further discussion and amendment before implementation.

You just gotta love these smiley faces.!!:):(:p;):D:o

I guess the real question is why are they not adjusted (down!) for the lack of the magazine?

I'd like to know if the (Asprox?) computer virus has been removed from the CFC website, so I can read more of the good news.

Not entirely sure if the effects of the virus (if any) are removed, but when you read a news item now, the page no longer contains the bogus Javascript code etc. At least that is a good sign, although it may mean the pages were manually fixed; the SQL injection vulnerability may or may not have been fixed. I suspect the CFC was likely running an old, not patched-up-to-date version of Apache. I didn't take a look at the version information before or after the previous infestation, so that is just a guess.
