  • Kitchener 2010 Winter Open - a few games

Most games were from round 3 onwards, so perhaps some other scores are yet to turn up in the score collection pile.

For the 1st game, did anyone happen to witness who the players were?

Re: Kitchener 2010 Winter Open - a few games

The final game from the [Event "Winter Open - U2000"] section (are any witnesses able to help repair the middlegame trade of Rooks?) introduces the pgn's below. The ones following the 1st belong to the open section. The time control appeared to be 90 minutes / player + 30 seconds (add after) / move, for all sections.

Re: Kitchener 2010 Winter Open - a few games

        No troubles, Hugh.

TDs Bond & MacDonald are the "owners" as Organizers of their tournaments, & they have expressed no concerns with sharing them through the Canadian (& occasionally other) chess communities (though I have not sent any off to TWIC or chessbase).

Some day, I'll have to package up the games in the past couple of years that I entered from Guelph & Kitchener & share them with CCN's Mr. Ficzere (he is welcome to the games that have already been archived in chesstalk).

Occasionally, I do mark draw offers, time counters, etc & have an unusual method for shortening off repetitional tries in a game - & they might disappear when annotations are clipped - when indicated from scoresheets.

I'd coincidentally just browsed CCN Jan2010 & Sept/Nov/Dec2009 - only to realize today that life members likely have to download each monthly issue - not get them emailed out (Erik Malmsten - I'm behind on my email for browsing about an unrelated issue). Repairing a couple of probable HD disc crashes since Christmas Day 2009 hasn't been much fun - & so paying as a life member to pick up the other CCN archives is not yet a priority for me.

The job done to CCN looks great - with the excellent usual columnists from years prior! Patrick & Hal have submitted photos or short Arbiter/Organizer reports, so it is likely best that, given my meagre rating, other subjective annotations could be better left to others. One may also like to check with the players to see that they have authored their scoresheets correctly, or offer subjective ideas for a tournament report.
