Yes it will be available at Strategy Games ( www.strategygames.ca ) as soon as it makes its way across the pond.

    Hey Mike,

In 10 days the Canadian Chess Challenge gets underway and we will have the pleasure of awarding the B.C. grade 1 representative with your generous donation.

    Thanks!

      Hi Michael,

If you have obtained Rybka 4, I wonder if you could try something? The page referred to above makes the claim: "Rybka 4 plays more aggressively and more tactically".

Could you set up the following position and have Rybka 4 search at some very deep level to find it's best line:

      3r1rk1/q4pp1/n1bNp2p/p7/pn2P1N1/6P1/1P1Q1PBP/2RR2K1 w - - 4 23

This is the critical position from Game 4 of the just-concluded Anand vs Topalov WCC.

Topolav as Black had played 20. ... h6, practically inviting Anand to launch a speculative Kingside attack.

After Anand made an intermediate move that chased the Black Queen to a7, followed by the move Ne3-g4 which was met by Topalov's ... Rad8, this critical position is reached.

I've tried several programs on long searches and none of them find Anand's winning 23. Nxh6+ followed by 24. Qxh6.

DOES RYBKA 4 FIND THIS WINNING PLAN?

        Hi Paul

The NIC shop is taking preorders only now. I will be playing out of town starting May 26 so I didn't order it as I don't want to take a chance on it arriving while I am away.(It gets returned if I don't pick up at the post office which has happened to me before here).

There are so many interesting new products being listed regulary I can't buy everything I want....

Now there are just recently added
        -The French Defence-Vitugov(Chess Stars)
        -The Greatest Tournaments 2001-2009(Chess Informant)
        -Botvinnik-Petrosian by Botvinnik
-Find the Right Plan with Karpov-Karpov

I tried the position on my old single core computer with Shredder 10. At 18 plies it finds 23. Nxh6+ Kh7 which I guess it prefers to gxh6. Gives it more than +2.00 evaluation.
