  • Norm Possibility: New England Masters

I received this in my email bin. Perhaps someone is interested.

Dear Chess Player, With just over 2 months to go to the start of the New England Masters we are now up to 20 entries out of the 50 that we will accept into this year's event. IM/GM JOSHUA FRIEDEL ENTERS!

IM Josh Friedel is the latest participant to confirm his entry and we are very excited by this as he may well be a GM at the time of the event depending on how speedy the process is of him applying for the title. We're hoping it gives us 6 GMs in the first 20 entries!

TOURNAMENT DETAILS The New England Masters is a 9 round, FIDE rated, Swiss with GM & IM norm opportunities. The time control for all games is 40/2 hours, SD/30 with a 5 second delay per move. This ensures that each playing session will be a maximum of 5 hours, which we feel is important given the 2 games/day schedule that helps minimize expenses for participants. JULY 11 - VERY IMPORTANT DATE!

Please remember that the early entry deadline is July 11, one month before the start of the event. All entry fees will increase by an additional $100 after that date, so enter by then to guarantee yourself the lowest entry fee! July 11 is also the deadline date to guarantee the low $89/night hotel rate and availability for the tournament!

TOURNAMENT WEBSITE The New England Masters website has just received a major face lift and so please visit us at http://www.newenglandmasters.com to obtain all the necessary information regarding this exciting event! I look forward to confirming your entry soon and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at chris@chesstournamentservices.com.
