    Re: Hart House Summer Open

    Hello all,

The Summer Open is now less than 2 weeks away, and is shaping up well.
At the top of the list are International Masters Leonid Gerzhoy, Nikolay Noritsyn and David Cummings, along with a strong group of masters. 36 players spread across the field so far.

    All details here:
    http://hhchess.sa.utoronto.ca/hhopen

Note that the last day to get an early entry is June 30th.
This will be the last tournament for those looking to sharpen their skills before the Canadian Open. Brian Fiedler will be by collecting last minute entries for the Canadian Open at some point as well.

    See you all there,

      Hello all,

The Summer Open at Hart House is only 3 days away!
Advance Registrations close June 30th before midnight.

We're a bit below the average in numbers, being a busy Summer, rich in chess activity in Toronto / Ontario. This will be the last tournament before the Canadian Open, and Brian Fiedler will be by at some point to collect last minute registrations for that.

Not without some serious top-tier competition though: GM Sambuev, IM Samsonkin, IM Gerzhoy, IM Noritsyn and IM Cummings top the list. A good spread all the way to the bottom of the list, competitive for everyone.

        Hi Alex,

I just have a question regarding Canadian Open registration. Will there be
someone at Hart House Open this weekend to accept registration for Canadian Open? Thanks.

          Hi Mikhail,
Yes, Brian Fiedler will be spending some time doing that at Hart House this weekend. However I don't know when exactly because I don't think he's playing in the event.

Re: Room / World Cup / Weather

            Hi,

I was able to move the tournament into the Great Hall, Hart House's premium space, which is the same room we played the Toronto Open in. High ceilings, great ventilation, a truly grand space. The weather according to the forecast will be very pleasant on Friday and good on Saturday with a high of 28, Sunday expected 30 high. We'll also have the courtyard patio for skittles like last time.

Hart House has been showing all World Cup games at Sammys downstairs in the basement, open to the public, and will on the weekend as I was told. Sammys itself though, will NOT be serving food / open for business, but the space will be with tables chairs, and projector screen. Saturday July 3rd: 9:45am Argentina vs Germany ; 2:15pm Paraguay vs Spain. No games Sunday.
