  • Chess article from Lexus Magazine

    Hello all,

A media associate from Lexus Magazine has recognized the contribution chess can make to the greater society, and has personally advised me to spread the word through a post on my "Checkmate!" blog. He asked me to put together a write-up, based on motivational speaker/instructor Orrin Hudson, to stimulate discussion.

My write-up can be found here: http://checkmateupdate.blogspot.com/...ave-world.html

The original Lexus Magazine article: https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...in-Hudson.html

This may be a good starting point for obtaining support in chess, and possibly future sponsorship. It is also a great way to promote wonderful causes.

    Have a fantastic week!

    Hazel

    Hi,

That was an interesting read. The world and the chess community need more people like Mr. Hudson. Thanks for posting, Hazel, a good chess story at the chess forum for once.

Here's an update to Hazel's original post. And I love the new monicker "Checkmate" (:

BTW, anyone heard from Hazel lately? Her blog is no longer being updated.

Another way to support Orrin Hudson and his good deeds is to link with him on Facebook and Linked In. We as Canadians tend not to get involved but support for good people is another way to help. Think about the good people in your chess community and support them. Toronto's Ted Winick comes to mind and of course there are many others.

            Hi John:

Hazel for the last while has faced serious health problems. She has not had anything to do with chess recently, from my last correspondence with her.

What a delightful article! I was surprised that it first surfaced in 2010. So sorry to hear about Hazel's health challenges. I hope she grows stronger and stays happy.

I'm sorry to hear of Hazel's indisposition, she is a
lovely young girl, a great asset to the chess community,
and CMA in particular. Her mum and she graciously
volunteered at our tournaments, and Hazel baked us
the most delightful chess-themed cakes. Gorgeous!

Get well soon Hazel, we miss you!
                Francis

Orrin Hudson continues to be in the news in a very positive light. I love the "board of education" reference (:
