    Some FIDE trivia questions:

    1) Excluding offshore islands (e.g St.Pierre and Miquelon, Falkland Islands, etc.), what is the only country/territory in the (mainland) Americas which is not a member of FIDE? (it might not even be eligible)

    2) Again - excluding offshore islands - there are 3 countries in Asia which are not members of FIDE. One is North Korea. What are the other two?

    3) As far as FIDE is concerned, in what continents are Israel? Palestine? Turkey? Russia?

    4) (Approximately) How many countries in Africa are not members of FIDE?

Israel competes in Europe, due to circumstances. as far as I know. Probably since you have lumped the other together they might all compete in Europe.

Palestine competes in Asia. The others are Europe. (Vladivostok in Europe? :-) )

          1) Maybe it's something like the Panama Canal Zone. Though I don't know if that exists anymore. Or Belize. Never was sure if it's independent or not. Or... French Guyana! Suriname..?

          2) Bhutan? Nepal? Brunei?

          4) I'd say around five. If more, not more than ten. Places like Central African Republic.. or Burkina Faso, or the Gambia.

                1) Guyana

French Guiana is a part of France and is a member of FIDE through the French Federation.

                2) Saudi Arabia and Oman

                  Guyana is a FIDE member.

French Guiana is the only "country/territory" in the mainland Americas not a FIDE member. (it shares the title of French "overseas department" with Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Reunion. (however - St.Pierre and Miquelon is a French "territorial collectivity"))

Saudi Arabia and Oman are not FIDE members.
