  • The Muskoka Chairs

I was looking at the Muskoka Chairs they bought for the meetings in Toronto.

Somewhere around 1970, I built a few of those in my basement one winter. As I recall, the only part I didn't put together in the basement was the arms of the chair. With the arms on, it wouldn't have come out of the basement.

I bought pattern which is probably still around somewhere. I put the pieces of the pattern over the wood, marked and cut the wood. The pattern even had a spot to drill for the screw holes. Back then, not having a drill with a screw attachment, it left large blisters. It's easy to build because it gives the wood sizes and thicknesses along with the screw sizes. Easy to go to the lumber yard and buy the materials.

The chairs were nice and lasted about a decade, before they rotted out.
