Style: 6 round Swiss in 5 sections: Open/FIDE rated (including U2300 section), U2200, U2000, U1800, U1600/UNR
Rounds: 11:00 AM & 5:30 PM Saturday, 10 AM and 4:30 PM Sunday and Monday
Time Control: 40/2, SD/1
Registration: 9:00-10:30 AM on Saturday, August 30th
Registrants after 10:30 are not guaranteed to be paired by 11:00 AM

Email registration to bryan.lamb@rogers.com. Email registrants must arrive onsite before 10:30 to pay or will be charged the onsite fee.
Entry Fees: $70 advance, $80 cash only on site AMATEUR: $25 (Under 1800 and Under 1600 sections – not eligible for cash prizes)
Discounts: $20 less for Juniors (born after Sept.1, 1988), Seniors (60 and older), Women, and IM’s. No discount for Amateur players; only one discount per player.
Byes: Maximum of 2 in rounds 1-5.
Players must be a current members of the Chess Federation of Canada for the duration of the tournament. Membership renewal, new membership and tournament membership payments will be accepted upon registration or before the start of the tournament

Required info: Name, Address, Phone Number, CFC Membership Number and Expiry Date, Rating, Section and Bye Request

Onsite registration starts at 9:00AM - cash only accepted.

Players must be a current members of the Chess Federation of Canada for the duration of the tournament. Membership renewal, new membership and tournament membership payments will be accepted upon registration or before the start of the tournament.

Hi Mark;
Actually I got 3.5 out of 7 in Kitchener. I was hoping for 4.5 or better but started slow. Had I got the 4.5 I would have moved into the U1800 for Labour Day. So for now I'm slowly moving up again. Also this should be my last CFC rated tourney for a year as a CFC member as I don't trust the CFC to give me a rebate should I pay $43.00 now and then they reduce the membership to $30 so I'll sit on the fence until they get their act together.

Hi John:

Not sure if you are clear on this, but on Jan. 1, 2009, as it stands now, you will have to pay $ 37 ( the new federal fee of $ 30 + the OCA fee of $ 7 ).

Either way Bob there is a difference of $6 if I pay $43 now.

You may be taking a risk in NOT joining before Jan. 1, 2009!

In GL # 1 , in commenting on the first 4 restructuring motions of 2008-9, CFC President David Lavin stated:

PS. The executive unanimously feels that the rating fee increase and membership fee
restructuring that was passed at the AGM were passed in haste. We will revisit this issue by GL2 and well before the January 1, 2009 implementation date.

What if they decide to raise the annual membership fees back up BEYOND the current $ 36 and $ 25 ?????
