Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere, but I haven't seen it:
how much is the entry fee for Saturday's Blitz RR at the Canadian Open?

I think it was mentioned that it will be $5 -$10 more than CDN OPEN participants.
    But anyone can play.

I don't know what this means.

Is it $5 for people who have entered the Can Open, and $10 for everyone else?

Re: CanadianOpen Blitz - entry fee?

The entry is $20 for participants in the CO and $25 for everyone else.
I will be at the playing site tomorrow (Thursday before the start of the round) to take entries. This is so I can have the pairing cards ready for the Saturday 8pm start. Out-of-town players should indicate their intention to play in response to this post and then pay their entry by 7:45 pm Saturday.
The tourney will be a 7 double round swiss with all the entry $ returned as prizes. There will be cash prizes for all ratings groupings as well as to the top finishers. At least 20% of players will win prizes!

          Hello Vlad:
I've got Lee Hendon, Adam Cormier and myself coming from out of town. We will be arriving around 5pm Saturday. Can you suggest parking nearby? Preferably within 5-10 min walk.
          Thanks,
          Rob Gashgarian

            Vlad,

I think this tournament traditionally uses CFC ratings rather than your club blitz ratings (My latter is over 200 points higher). Players from the chess corner are gearing up to challenge the tournament players. It will be alot of work for you, lots of fun for the players.

But first is the blindfold simul on Friday 11:30am.

close to 24-hour Metro supermarket on Front St.

Just north and east of the Westin Conference Centre
              Pinnicle condos, underground
              7 am - 6 pm $12 max

              6 am - 6 pm $15 max
              $4.50 an hour
              6pm - 7am $5

                  Hi Eric,
I will be using the Saturday blitz ratings because I think they are more accurate. Of course if someone does not have a blitz rating, I will use their CFC, USCF or FIDE ratings. I expect if there are 50 - 60 entries, I will be very busy Saturday! I have printed 400 pairing cards this week, just in case :) I will not be using computer generated pairings!

If you don't mind paying $20, you can park right nextdoor behind the Gyros place (immediately East of the hotel). That's where I parked for both days of the AGM.

Note for those coming from the west, it might be faster taking the 401-Don Valley as Lakeshore west of the tournament will be closed for the Indy car race.

                          Erik:
Do you know whether the Gardiner will still have full access? Or do you expect it to be busier than usual because of the race?

It might be better to find the closest subway stop with parking (Islington, Kipling etc) and take the subway to Union station... Downtown Trawna on Indy weekend is a bear...

In fact, parking at the GO train and taking that to Union Station might be easier depending on whether or not those coming in are close to the Lake (and the Lakeshore Go line) The GO train (although limited to hourly service) is usually a lot more civilized than the subway.

Roughly how long is the subway ride from Islington or Kipling? When would you expect the tourney to finish?
                              Thanks for your help
