    The Toronto Star had a feature on the top students in the GTA and the top student in the city of Toronto public high schools is a chessplayer (CFC rating 1782). This was also reported in the Canadian Jewish News.

    Best/worst grade? Calculus, functions, data management, economics and computer science, 100; French, 97

    Favourite courses? Biology, math

    Hours of homework per night? Three (two for school work; one for national biology competition, which he won)

    What do you do in your spare time? Volunteer at school events, leader of "buddy" program for new students, senior boys' swim team captain, Reach for the Top team captain, chess team.

    How much time do you spend on Facebook? "Probably too much – 20 to 30 minutes a night."

    Where does your academic drive come from? "I've always tried to do the best I can, whether in academics, sports or whatever."
