Maybe not exactly since it doesn't appear to reflect the ratings as they are after last Monday's blitz, which has been rated on the club list. I gained five rating points to pull even with Jason on 1909. I'm not sure who would be on fourth board as a result.

And is that the same Colin Aykroyd I remember from the sixties?

Roger Patterson and the Victoria Chess Club tried an experiment this weekend ... and offered an event NOT RATED by the Chess Federation of Canada... the result? Lower than expected attendance.

I had the opportunity during the opening announcements today, to publicly congratulate our new Under 10 World Champion Jaso Cao who is playing his first round game on Board 2.

Roger Patterson and the Victoria Chess Club tried an experiment this weekend ... and offered an event NOT RATED by the Chess Federation of Canada... the result? Lower than expected attendance.

This is the 25th annual Jack Taylor Memorial and a look at the history of this event shows the following:

Congratulations to WM Valeria Gansvind from Sidney, British Columbia!:D



After 4 straight victories, she settled for a last round draw with veteran Colin D. Aykroyd who commented that he was the only player in this year's event who had actually played Jack Taylor more than 40 years ago! Valeria Gansvind, originally from Estonia, recently finished in 2nd place behind Jack Yoos in this year's BC Closed.
