I received some terrible news today.
My good friend Paul Maisonneuve has passed away. I have known Paul for many years. An active chessplayer from the Gatineau region, Paul managed the Chess'n Math outlet for a number of years. He was the driving force behind us opening in downtown Ottawa after our initial entry into that market with a location in Hull. He was a very detail person. Kind, thoughtful, organized and someone very special.
He also taught chess to youngsters for the CMA while he managed our Ottawa operation and after when he left that task to others. I could call on him at anytime...I knew he would always be there for me! He believed in what we were doing and he was proud to be a part of our team! He also gave many hours to the Quebec Chess Federation (FQE) as a volunteer and was active in the organization of the Hull Chess Club and the Outaouais Chess League (Just across the river from Ottawa...on the Quebec side of the border).
Another person dear to me has been struck down by the big C! On a day like today, I really don't understand this world! Yet again tears fill my eyes....I truly do not understand...
Paul interviewed me for the FQE website a while back...I think you will get a sense of the man from his article which can be found at the link below (the article is in French)
