Hi again, I will be at the RA club on Thursday, September 4th, from 7pm onwards, taking registrations. That will be the last chance to pay with no late fee. Note that onsite payment on Friday (but already registered by email) costs only $5 more, but onsite registration and payment on Friday costs $20 more.
Therefore, even if you or a friend cannot pay on Thursday, emailing me your registration will save you $15 on Friday, and save us both some scrambling! ;)
Remember that Brad Thomson from the Ottawa Strategy Games store will run a Chess&Math kiosk on Saturday, from 12noon for the rest of the day, set up in the skittles room next door to the playing room. If there is anything that you would like him to bring, please feel free to contact him at the Ottawa store, (613) 565-3662, or via email: thomson at chess-math dot org
Also, IM Brian Hartman is graciously bringing autographed copies of Nick's Best, by Lawrence Day. We will be selling them for the discounted price of $25, and the proceeds will go towards a junior prize. If you would like one reserved for you, please email Brad (email just above) and myself (email just below).
P.S. Would anyone know how I could get in touch with Doug Burgess and Terry Fleming? If yes, please reply privately: arismarghetis at rogers dot com
Please find below the list of players registered so far, and there are some more that I am emailing back and forth with. In Ottawa, we usually get a lot of registrants at the RA club on the Thursday before a weekend event, so I will repost this list again after then. Thanks again for any email registrations! :)

--------- original event announcement ---------
The EOCA is pleased to announce the first event of the 2008-2009 EOCA Grand Prix, the RA Fall Open. It is scheduled this year for the weekend after Labour Day. My plan is to spend lots of time with the family on the holiday weekend, thus earning time away to run the tournament the weekend after! :)
Back to the event details, to start this new season, the Top (>=2000) section will now be rated FIDE. In addition, regular participants from past EOCA events will notice that the prize fund is getting chunkier. We're still working on potential sponsorship, but even without that, we should exceed $3000.
On top of that, I used to offer discounts for GM and IM, and now there are also discounts for FM, and for the female equivalents: WGM, WIM, and WFM.
We are also happy to announce that we have formed a partnership with the Crowne Plaza Hotel for those of you who need a place to stay. If you are indeed interested in taking advantage of the rate we negotiated ($100! off their regular weekend rate), I recommend you reserve as soon as you can.
For complete details for this event, and a great webpage to bookmark for all of the events in the 2008-2009 EOCA Grand Prix, please go to this weblink:
