We are fortunate that Goddesschess Partnership thinks so highly of us and does so much to help.

Janet Newton, who describes herself as the « handmaiden » of the Goddess – a huge understatement, of course – did even more than that : she prodded two American websites to mention our tournament, CHESSDOM http://previews.chessdom.com/2010/90...s-championship and Susan Polgar’s blog http://susanpolgar.blogspot.com/2010...hip.html#links.

A wonderful boost to the reputation of this event. Who knows what we can build for the future with such support.

Meanwhile, the 2010 edition is right here at the door step : we are three days from the launch and we now have 122 pre-registered players. The list will be updated this evening on the official website http://www.echecsmontreal.ca/chom/.

For a financially successful venture, we need a lot more ! A minimum of 70 would beat last year’s mark (191). At that level, we would have all hopes of making a modest operational surplus.

The organiser (Le Club Ahuntsic) has committed to deposit any surplus in a trust fund in order to maintain / improve the future editions of this Championship.

We work hard to establish a quality competition in Montreal. To get there, we do need a critical mass of support from the community of chessplayers. If you are not already registered, do not hesitate any longer, PARTICIPATE ! You can register on line in advance (it’s cheaper) http://www.echecsmontreal.ca/chom/chom-form-english.htm
and you can do it on site at Jean-de-Brébeuf college Friday September 10 between 17:00 and 18:15.

With your help, we can have a great event and prepare something even better in the future.
