    Re: olympiad - Round 1

How about from this link? For me - this shows the complete Bluvshtein game with the 1-0 result.

        Hi Hugh:

        Thanks again.

I'm blind - I didn't see the 1-0 under the move number column at the bottom - I guess becuase it is in dark red and doesn't show up immediately.

          Hi Brian:

Not quite as far as I can see:

          Women vs Uganda - 3.5 - .5 ( Iulia is shown as draw )

Open ve Mozambique - still in progress

          - won - Bluvshtein and Gerzhoy
          - draw - Roussel-Roozmon
-still in progress - Noritsyn ( move 38 - though seems to be winning )

            I think the result (1/2) is wrong. The final position (31...Rxe3) must be a win for Black. (32.Rxe3 Qh1 mate; 32.Qe3 Be3 33. Re3 Qh1+ or Qd6 and Qxa3 -+)

Probably the game is over and opponent resign. (as there is no more updates)

Yes, Black is winning! But if 32.Qd6 then ... Be5ch wins (where do you see Qxa3?)

I thought so too at first, but actually, there is an icon to the right of the team names (four green squares arranged in a 2x2 grid), which will take you to a split screen showing of the whole match.

And looking for the "1-0" doesn't always work--Nikolay's was actually the first game to finish, but it still shows only an asterisk.

                Open: 4-0
                Women: 3.5-0.5

A great start--and it seems like Iulia had a winning position earlier on, too. On to bigger fish!

                            Hi Ken:

This is one of those instances where I see handling the Olympiad on the CMA Board is no problem. It is of general interest to both CFC members and the public.

However you may be right that at least there should be some reference there - maybe I'll post the standings, and refer people here for more extensive coverage.

                            Seem reasonable?

What seems reasonable is abandoning the public CFC Boards and stopping the duplication.

Why should Larry be expected to pay for the CFC message board? That is in effect what would end up happening (I agree that is the way it was before the CFC had a forum of its own). I am sure Larry has no problem being cooperative, he might draw the line at spending money for nothing :)

I don't think the CFC Message board represents a significant expense for the CFC (not as much as a new website <g>) so having it there with separate (private) forums for Governors seems like a given.

The real problem is the lack of participation of MANY of the Governors... This is not a new problem. Unfortunately, a lot of Governors only do something like vote when they have to defeat a motion that would limit their power.
