Ottawa Autumn Open: $10 discount tonight

Hi chess fans, the 2010 Ottawa Autumn Open starts tomorrow, and we are busy making final arrangements. Thanks to everyone who has offered to help!

RA REGISTRATION TONIGHT ($10 early discount)
I plan to be at the RA club tonight, but due to a little family thing, I am not yet sure at exactly what times. I will reply here later with one of the following:
SCENARIO 1: I arrive at 7pm, and take registrations/payments by 730pm. Then I play in tonight's club event, and accept later payments (on my move).
SCENARIO 2: I arrive after 730pm, and just set up in a corner of the club playing room, and players can register and pay as their games progress/finish.
But again, I will reply here later with one of those scenarios.
Until then, please feel free to email me your intent to register.

PLAYERS & SECTIONS
There are already over 60 players registered, but by some quirk of fate, there are only 5 players so far in the U1800 Section. Therefore, the players in the U1800 Section will be paired with the U2000 Section, but there will be a class prize for only the U1800 players (and only 3 of them so far are not Amateur!)

RA MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS
For RA players who are taking the $5 RA discount, you need to renew your RA membership by tonight, as I will be getting the latest RA list during Friday.

- floater players help the TD guarantee no “forced byes”
- floater players are paired and rated like all the players
- floater players play for free, but under some conditions :
----- they play in 0 to 5 rounds, depending on byes by all the players
----- they can be phoned/texted in the hour before every single round
----- they have a current CFC membership by the time of first pairings

The Eastern Ontario Chess Association (EOCA) organizes the EOCA Grand Prix, a series of weekend tournaments over the 2010-2011 chess season.

The next EOCA event in Ottawa is the Ottawa Autumn Open, on September 24th-26th. It will consist of 5 rounds, with flexible bye and discount options.

We are planning 5 sections (rated CFC, upper sections also rated FIDE), and prizes for every 200 rating points (total of $3300 for latest Ottawa event!)

Hi again, please note that I will not be staying later to play at the RA club tonight. I still plan on being there earlier, by 7pm, to take registrations and payments, but I really need to leave right after the RA club round starts tonight, which would be 730pm, or a bit later.

If you cannot make it tonight, please feel free to email me before 12noon on Friday, so that I can at least prepare for your registration, thus saving valuable time onsite before the first round. Note that I will start doing the pairings at 7pm Friday evening, so that we can start that first round on time at 730pm. Anyone paying after 7pm might not get a Swiss pairing for the first round. Registrations close as the first round completes itself.

I look forward to seeing as many new players as possible tonight (rather than tomorrow onsite, lol) However, players can still register and pay onsite, but with no early discount.

Finally, please note that I will be offline (from email, etc.) as of 12noon on Friday!
