  • Toronto junior chess championship 2010 (FIDE rated)

    “The Knights of Chess” club presents (a GTCL event):

    TORONTO JUNIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

    November 7 – December 19

    This will be an eight player, round-robin tournament comprising of the eight highest rated players born on January 1, 1991 or later.

    The deadline for entries will be 6 PM Sunday, October 17, 2010 at “The Knights of Chess” club located on 5635 Yonge street, suites 201-202, Toronto, M2M 3S9 (near Yonge and Finch intersection), where the draw for positions will take place. A reserve section will be available if 6 or more additional players enter. The event will be CFC and FIDE rated. CFC membership is required.

    Drinks and snacks will be provided.

    Schedule: Games will be played on consecutive Sundays at 10 AM at “The Knights of Chess” club
    (Finch subway station TTC parking is free on Sundays)

    Time control: 90 minutes for the game with 30 seconds increment from the first move.

    Entry fee: $65 payable by 6 PM, October 17, 2010.

    Prizes:
    Championship (95% of entry fees)
    1st - $200 & Trophy
    2nd - $100
    3rd - $60

    Reserve section (75% of entry fees).

      I am very glad to announce that Toronto Junior Chess Championship for year 2010 starts this Sunday, Nov 14.
      Seven strong juniors (average CFC rating - 2177) will contend for the title:
      Roman Sapozhnikov
      Michael Kleinman
      Nikita Gusev
      Michael Song
      Jesse B Wang
      Alexandru Florea
      Mike Ivanov

      I'd like to use this opportunity for inviting you to visit “The Knights of Chess” club (5635 Yonge street, suites 201-202, Toronto, M2M 3S9). Here you will get to observe exiting games between some of our best juniors, to play, in completely separate room, casual games or blitz tournament (if enough players willing to do that). Casual games will be available on Sundays, from 10 AM till 1:30 PM for $5 per day. Entry fee for blitz tournament is extra.

                    Going to last round ...

                    One round to go, and we have sole leader - Roman Sapozhnikov with 3.5 out of 4. Only player who could catch Roman is Nikita Gusev. Nikita has 2 points out of 3 and one postponed game (against Alexandru Florea). Round 5 is on next Sunday, December 12 at 10 AM, in "The Knights of Chess" club and the parings are:
                    1. Ivanov, Mike - Wang, Jesse B
                    2. Sapozhnikov, Roman - Gusev, Nikita
                    3. Florea, Alexandru - Song, Michael

                            Where did you see his rating? This is from FIDE web site http://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?event=2613158 - not rated yet.

                              In my fide rating expected rating change it said he was 1835 and i lost 6 points
