Hi again, just a quick note to point out that the current early-bird discount is the $20 double-early November discount. Ideally, this is in effect for all mail received up to Wednesday, November 10th, inclusive. Then after that, on the evening of Thursday, November 11th, at the RA chess club, the early-bird discount will be reduced to $10, and finally, onsite at the RA Centre on Friday, November 12th, there will no longer be any early-bird discounts available.
My target is at least 70 players, and a prize fund of at least $3K. In addition, we have secured nicer playing rooms, in the East Wing of the RA Centre. For those of you who attended the 2009 Ontario Open, you'll recall the Courtside rooms had more space, better lighting, and much better soundproofing! :)
As of yesterday, we already had 60 players registered, and the prize fund from paid registrations is already almost $2500, which is great this early! :)
N.B. Important note re : RA Chess Club on Thursday, November 4th (i.e. this evening) : I am wiped from my recent trip, so I was not going to play at the RA Chess Club this evening. However, if you wanted to register in person, please email me, so that we can hopefully arrange the best payment option.
P.S. IM Brian Hartman has graciously donated his prize from the Ottawa Autumn Open to the prize fund for the National Capital Open, with the request that I make it some sort of junior prize. Therefore, I am thinking that the prize fund for the U1600 Section may exceed the prize fund for the U1800 Section.
Yours in chess,
