  • CYCC - playing in "older" section

    Hello,

I was wondering if CYCC rules allows a player to compete in a section above their age. I know that girls can play in the open (Hazel did it before), but I did not see anyone playing "higher". The sections are defined by one limit "Born before 1990", so I believe is possible.

This year at WYCC, I notice a 14-15 years old playing in under 18 section.

Your question: Can XX go to the UnderYY (XX<YY) event?

All tournaments' names start with UNDER, not BETWEEN.
and "Each contestant in a Youth Tournament must fulfil the age and residency requirements specified by FIDE for the World event to which the winner of the Canadian event will qualify."

You've observed 14 playing in U18 at WYCC, thus it must be allowed in CYCC too.
