  • Chessbase coverage of Nigel Short Simul and Lecture

The Chessbase article can be found here. The material is largely what John Upper has written (plus my photos) but it is nice to see it under the Chessbase banner. And Nigel looks like a hero to all of the kids!

It's all a tissue of lies. Lies, Lies LIES!!!

Photoshop can make anything seem real!!

Nigel Short was never in Ottawa! Ever!!

The internets were invented by the US Military Industrial Complex.
Don't believe anything you read on it!!!

Somebody please get John a refill for his meds!:D
Actually, it was wonderful coverage (thanks to John and Tim) of a very successful event. Arrangements for both the lecture and the simul were made by Stijn de Kerpel.
When I took Nigel to his plane at 4:30 AM (!!!) Tuesday morning he professed to have very much enjoyed his visit and to be keen to return in the near future.
Meanwhile, the RA has a busy schedule ahead:
      1) the final round of the Club Active Championship in honour of the late George Raletich
      2) our winter round robin event
      3) our premier event, the RA Club Championship
      4) interrupted for a simultaneous exhibition by Alexei Shirov who will also present two lectures on the weekend.
      It should be interesting.
