  • 2010 Groningen Chess Festival: GM M. Bluvstein equal first 7/9

together with 5 others (GM Bolkov 2542, IM Nyznyk, IM Brandenburg 2515, IM van Kampen 2454 and GM Ernst 2590 - who went to win his round 9 game vs GM GUpta 2600). It seems that Mark offered the draw on his 9th move of the black side of an Italian game.

This is a fine tournament win for the 4th seeded GM Bluvstein, and a nice recovery from this first round loss to Armenian Baghdasaryan 2303. Mark has 5 wins 3 draws and 1 loss.

Groningen is about 90 minutes drive from The Hague - the political capital of The Netherlands. I used to play chess in this city for about 9 years and have witnessed most of the current crop of Dutch masters, e.g. IM Chiel van Oosteroom from Delft.

Are these the Dutch Masters to whom you are referring? :):)

There were actually 6 players tied for first... the ones you mention plus Netherlands IM Robin Van Kampen, 2454. Mark was third on tiebreaks.. don't know if the prizes are split six-way, or what.
