For #1 Looking for best answer from FA or IA.
For #2 Looking for contacts in SK or western Canada

    Query #1

We have an upcoming 4 game Swiss Active tournament- 30 minutes per player. I believe it was indicated that it is required in this tournament for players to record the moves. This seems like a real challenge for me.

Is there a rule that you have to record moves in 30 minute active games? I wondered if you would have time to reply. I appreciate your time. Thanks.

    Query #2

My dad is an avid chess player, and even though he is almost 90, he still plays well. He lives in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, where the number of chess players appears to be close to zero.

I don't think he's a member of the chess federation any more, but I'm sure he'd be willing to re-join if you were able to connect him with players at his level. Since he doesn't use a computer, he can't play on-line, but he would be willing to play on the phone with people across Canada, but preferably in Western Canada.

Can you help me with this problem?

    Thanks

FIDE Rapid (aka Active) chess rules:

"A.2 Players do not need to record the moves."
