    See my first post of this thread for ideas on how Black might play in case of your prefered choice of 5.Nbd2. One or more of these ideas might be what at least some Whites want to avoid, in choosing 5.Bd2 instead. On the other hand, some Whites might think that Black does best to trade on d2 twice no matter which piece White puts there, and so their choice of interposition on move five may be almost random.
