  • Toronto player - Wajdy Shebetah or vice-versa?

Looking at results and games from the recent Hart House tournament, there is a player in the CFC crosstable "Shebetah, Wajdy". I have a game from the tournament in which the name is shown as "Wajdy, Shebetah".

In my database, I have 30 games with the last name "Shebetah" (Arab U18 from 2000, and Toronto games from 2008). I also have 20 games with the last name "Wajdy" (games from Jordan and Lebanon 2007-08).

    Which is the correct surname?

As far as i know, these 2 names refer to the same person.

Wajdy Shebetah has defeated the former world junior champion Adly of Egypt in a chess tournament in Africa.

Is the "Michael Vermont" in the Annex tournament possibly the same "M. Vermont" that I played in the 1977 Toronto Open?

Quite likely. He is an oldtimer who has come out to ACC a couple of times, but doesn't want to get sucked into full-time chess. What was his rating back then, 17XX?
