Any chance of changing the Blitz TC to 3+2 for players with digital clocks?

      Hi John,

Unfortunately, 3+2 can take a bit longer than the straight 5 + 0. With the format of the weekend I doubt we'd want to go much longer than 9pm since people may be playing the next morning. On the positive side 5+0 can still create some great games and I've heard a fair bit of interest from some really strong blitz players. Hope to see you there!

Hey John, hate to go back on what I've posted, but you (and everyone else who requested the change) will have your way! We're amending the blitz to 3 mins + a 2 second increment. Turns out no one likes sudden death. Therefore the details are as follows:

        EVENT 2: Saturday Blitz

Rds: 5 double rounds (one White and one Black against each opponent)
        Times: Saturday ~7:00pm-9:00pm continuously
        Type: Swiss
        TC: 3 min + 2 seconds a move
EF: $30 (discounted rate of $75 total, if playing in all three events)
Prizes: 60% of entries to be returned as prizes
Reg: email chess@uoguelph.ca and pay cash on site. Unannounced entries will not be eligible for the discounted rate.

Feel free to email us at chess@uoguelph.ca to let us know you're coming.

        Hope to see everyone there.

So much more civilized than the whack-a-mole of 5+0.

Apologies in advance to those that were holding out for it, but, with preregistrations favouring a Saturday-only scenario, we will be cancelling the Sunday quad (Note: discounted rate for both of Saturday's events will be $50). That said, we are looking forward to tomorrow's events and encourage those that are still thinking of registering to send us a message (chess@uoguelph.ca)! Worst case, meet us for registration at 9:30 tomorrow morning.

            Preregistrants for Saturday:

            Tim Knechtel
            Ross Cunningham
            Joey Befurt
            Rob Clark
            Michael Zaghi
Hal Bond (coming out of self-imposed semi-retirement)
            Michael von Keitz (floater)
            David Plaxton
            Bruce Hurst
            Chris Wehrfritz
            Davy Zhao
            John Upper
            Bob Gillanders
