  • Two blitz places in downtown Toronto

Last Wednesday, i went to buy RAM for my wife's computer, so as to bolster its speed when i play poker online, as well as chess. Then i visited 2 places where ym friends play, enthusiastic to see this young Russian girl master play on the board.

    The 2 places are:

    1. AMC - 3rd floor - on the far left end of the floor.
in the intersection Yonge and Dundas, across the Dundas square.

    2. The Atrium - basement -in thef ood court.
near the intersection Yonge and Dundas.

In the first area, you can find the American blitz player from NY - Eddie Mark.
This is where you can also find the Russian girl master.

The food court at the Attrium is closer to Bay and Dundas.

        Hi Eric,
I will post a link to the photo as soon as i verify her age.

        Hi Zeljko,
You are right. The best entrance is through the Bay st door.

This is the indoor/winter location for the Church-and-Queen Chess Corner crowd, right?

            Hi Marcus,

you are right. The players seek refuge from winter in these fun areas. They also try to cure their loneliness and their longings. Not only that, these are places where you can buy metro passes at discounted rates.

Metro passes at discounted rates?? For less than $121? Must be counterfeit...

They must have been selling Montreal transit passes - they're only $72.75.

                  Thanks, Erwin.

I updated my list of Toronto Chess Clubs to include these winter locations.

                    Hi Markus,

Can you add North York Central Library, 5120 Yonge Street, North York, 3rd floor to your list.

We have 4 tables reserved for chess every Saturday by the library staff.

                    Thank you,
A computer beat me in chess, but it was no match when it came to kickboxing

OK. It's included. I called it "Chess in North York Central Library."

If anyone else has something to include, or information to update, or defunct clubs to remove, etc., please let me know.

Was the CITL moved to the 3rd floor from a separate room? What time do you meet?

It has nothing to do with CITL (Chess in the library program).
About 8-12 adults come with their chess sets to play every Saturday during working hours 1:30-6:00 pm. Then some players continue to play after library closed at concourse level of the North York Centre. In the summer they play outside of the library.
