Looks like a powerhouse field with all those GMs and IMs. Would be a great place to promote the Canadian Open and recruit titled players. Any CO flyers available there?

Michael Song is playing very well at this point. He has defeated 2 higher rated players 100 points above him. His only lose in round 3 occurred at the hands of a GM who is currently no. 1 in the standings.

And his 4th round opponent is an IM.

Michael Songs continous to soar to new heights. He has just won the recent 2011 OCC Grade 6 in Toronto. Hopefully he gets the FM title in this tournament.....

Regarding our postponed game in the 2011 SCC club championship, we should play it in round 2 of the SCC Springs Swiss.

See you in 2 weeks over the board, Michael......go for the FM title.

Thanks for encouraging Michael. I just showed him your post.

Michael's game against GM took about 5 and 1/2 hours last night. Game finished close to 1 am. Michael had change to draw at the end. Michael said he almost was in half-sleep status at the end...

Unfortunately today he lost to the IM. 5th round will start in less than 1 hour.

(just noticed now - there was an invalid move at move 17, and that's the position shown. The game is actually on move 42.)

Sasa Kulic managed to get a draw against the IM, going into an endgame where he has a rook pawn but will likely end in a stalemate.

Sasa Kulic is a chess instructor of the Chess and MAth Association in Toronto.
