Apologies for a Yankee posting on your bulletin board, but I did after all drive over the border to Hamilton myself on Monday to watch the last round of the Ontario Open which I'd hoped to play in. I even stayed for the whole 6 hours of the last game. :)
This is to promote an event we are holding the weekend after this coming one in Buffalo, June 3-5. I've just now received and posted the official flyer from organizer Michael McDuffie. A special from the version of the flyer I gave out in Hamilton is still good: although the EF is $120 now and $150 at the door, if 6 or more Canadians contact him intending to play, he'll knock that down to $90 each. There is also a USCF tournament fee of $12 for non-USCF members; $10 of that can be applied to a year's playing membership within 60 days.
Note that it's 7 rounds with a Friday 1pm start for the main section, but half-pt. byes are available. Michael McDuffie runs the Arcangel 8 Chess Academy and his e-mail is arcangel8chess [at] yahoo [dot] com.
Hoping to see some more of you in Buffalo, à bientôt if not next week, as we're trying to run some quality events. Likewise we'll be interested to hear from people here what would make them more attractive.
