  • Nigel Short's Canadian Tour Begins in Ottawa

On Thursday 15 September, GM Short will return to Ottawa to start his central Canadian tour. The first event is a simul at the RA Centre under the auspices of the Ottawa RA Chess Club. Until the end of August, the entry fee remains at $35 les $5 for RA members. If slots remain open, the September price will be $40. Twenty participants have registered to date but Nigel has agreed to accept a few more. He will also be giving two lectures on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. covering his world championship match against Kasparov. Last year's event was very well received and we expect a good turn out. Until the end of August, the cost is $160 rising to $170 in September with a $10 discount for RA members.
Registrations will be accepted at the RA chess club on Thursday evenings or directly to me.
In order to take full advantage of the presence of this remarkable player, arrangements have also been made for Nigel to conduct simuls subsequently in Gatineau and Toronto.

There are still a few seats remaining for the Nigel Short simul at the Ottawa RA Chess Club next Thursday 15 September at the September price of $40 less $5 for RA members. There are also seats open for the lecture series by GM Short on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at $170 less $10 for RA members.
This is the first event in Nigel's central Canadian tour which will include stops in Gatineau, Toronto and Kitchener.
