Dear Chess Friends in Canada,
We are continuing our push to bring international FIDE-rated chess to Buffalo. Organizer Michael McDuffie is offering two events, Sep 17-18 and Oct. 15-16, each with $1115 total guaranteed prize fund split across 3 sections: Open, U1500, and Scholastic. The Open prizes are $400-150-100, Under-2100 prize $125, Under-1800 prize $100; EF is $55 before Sep 1 for the Open ($75 onsite) and only $25 by Sep 1 ($35 onsite) for the U1500, $10 ($15) for scholastics. USCF membership (or at least a tourney fee) is required.

The Gloria Parks Center is a cozy well-lit place to play, right on 3242 Main St. near the University at Buffalo Main St. Campus, with eateries and shops nearby. To my knowledge these events do not conflict with anything on the (south-)western Ontario calendar.
