  • CanBase (Canadian games database) updated!

Almost 4,000 "new" games have been added in the "Years" files - including:

All available games (624) from the Open section of the Canadian Open. Games from other sections to follow.
Several hundred games from the Quebec Open.
Only a few games from the 2011 CYCC (what can I do without the scoresheets?).

Hundreds of games have been added in the "Players" files - including:

75 "new" games of Lawrence Day.
695 games of Quebec master Daniel Rousseau.
1279 games of Quebec master Steve Bolduc.
46 games of (inactive) BC IM Valerian Adam.
230 games of Canada's newest IM - Arthur Calugar.

Re: CanBase (Canadian games database) updated!

Let me add my own thanks in public as well as privately. With assist from David Cohen, Hugh has entered the rest of tournament after the initial selection of about 300 games via Monroi and the staff that was available on the site and TWIC. Getting basically the whole event is I think unprecedented---well it was a particularly strong field and festive occasion!

This is helping my "Intrinsic Ratings" research. I've already run the in-depth game analysis required by my model on 243 games of the top finishers and top-rated players, and will be reporting on this here soon. There are some positive-outlier results I don't understand yet and an overall higher-than-expected average which may be due to bias caused by my focus on the top, which having and running the entire tournament will "control" for.
