    The CCC Post ( Week of September 29 – October 6/11 ).

Q: The Cooperative Chess Coalition ( CCC ) is very critical of Canadian chess “ culture “, and Canadian chess structures. Has nothing been accomplished?

A: CCC has, despite its criticism, a very positive view of the last three years. President David Lavin ( 2008-9 ) implemented fundamental and necessary CFC restructuring ( transforming the CFC print magazine; selling the CFC office building; outsourcing the CFC office functions; etc. ). President Eric Van Dusen ( 2009-10 ) implemented the quarterly governors’ on-line meetings, and gave CFC the first year in the black ( after 5 years averaging $ 30,000 deficits ). President Bob Gillanders ( 2010-1 ) ran a substantially more transparent CFC, with good member communication from the Executive, and brought in the new website, as well as the second consecutive year in the black. The CCC is optimistic about the President Michael von Keitz administration ( 2011-2 ). There are significant accomplishments and these have put the CFC back on a positive track, and paved the way for more positive member-oriented reform in Canadian chess that the CCC will push for.
