The calendar states 7:45 pm but i believe it will start past 8 pm.

Surely, an IM like you will attract other strong players.

As for me, I know that once i declare that i am going to participate, a lot of underrated Filipino players will come to make it as difficult as possible to win.

Henry Arandia, Jingle Kho, Ferdie Supsup, hopefully NM Alan Montalbo, FM Teodoro....

I was just informed that the adult play in Alumni Room 3138, which i have not yet been. I hope i do not get lost.

What delay? MCC opens for 2012 on Jan 5th.
The 2012 schedule is up on our website.
        http://www.mississaugachessclub.ca/

Jan 5th and 12th are an active tournament.
Jan 19th is the speed tournament. Always a crowd pleaser.
Jan 26th - starts the Viktar Chupyrs memorial.

With the new room, we are hoping to start the adult tournaments promptly at 8pm, which has historically been our start time. In recent years, starting times got pushed back due to the junior club, but with our new room, everyone should plan on arriving by 8pm sharp. In fact, the adult room will be open at 6:30 for those who want some skittles first.

Re: Mississauga Chess Club Speed Championships = Jan 19?

              Hi Erwin;

You have to remember that SCC and ACC have all games CFC rated and all members are CFC Members. The other two clubs do not have all CFC rated players and not all games are CFC rated. This is one major reason fees can be less also if the sites are subsidized the fees do not have to be that high.

Right now in the GTA I think you could play at a different chess club every day of the week.
Annex is Monday, Tuesday is Anapilis Chess Club,Brampton Chess Club, Earl Bales Chess Club, AY Jackson Chess Club,Wednesday is Kingsview, Thursday is SCC,Mississauga, Friday is Strategy Games Adult Lessons, Adult Chess Mates,CheckMate Club,
Vlad's club is Saturdays and I think Orioles is Sundays.

I think the GTCL should find out the club nights and offer a blanket coverage
to play at all clubs for a reduced membership.
This would get more players coming to more clubs and maybe even promote more chess playing in the GTA area.

Here's the result ,copied from the MCC website:

                And the winner is:

IM Bindi Cheng - congratulations! 7 wins in 7 games.

What was notable for me was that IM Cheng declared, before the start of the tournament, that he is just there for the games, for the fun, and not for the prize. Meaning he waived his right to the prize.

I interpret this gesture as honorable as he is the only IM in the field.
